New Mexico deserves a Lands Commissioner who knows the land, loves it, and will fight for it.
Jonas Moya is a fourth-generation rancher.
From an early age, he learned the value of hard work, community, and protecting the land we all depend on.
Jonas grew up on his grandmother’s farm in Tucumcari, New Mexico and earned his degree in Agricultural Economics and Business from New Mexico State University. He’s spent his career fighting for farmers, ranchers, and rural families, and protecting what makes New Mexico special.
Jonas has led statewide organizations, helped shape public policy, and achieved real results for New Mexico's farmers and ranchers.
President Joe Biden saw that dedication and appointed him as New Mexico’s State Director for the Farm Service Agency.
Through it all, Jonas has stayed true to his roots. He believes in New Mexico values: protecting our land, bringing people together, and making sure government works for everyday folks—not just the well-connected.
And that’s why he’s running for New Mexico Lands Commissioner. Jonas isn’t in this for the spotlight. He’s in it for New Mexico.

"I was honored to be appointed by President Joe Biden as New Mexico’s State Director for the Farm Service Agency. In that role, I focused on delivering real results for farmers, ranchers, and rural communities across our state — not playing politics. While no administration gets everything right, my commitment has always been to New Mexico first.
I’m running for Land Commissioner to continue that work: protecting our lands, supporting working families, and ensuring our public resources serve the people who depend on them."
